# What is an NFT?

NFTs are digital certificates that are stored on a blockchain. NFTs prove ownership, are unique and non-replaceable. Peer-to-peer transactions and metadata are immutably recorded on a public ledger. There are no geographic boundaries. Internet pioneers are using NFTs to authenticate and gain economic control of their content. In Web3.0 content will be minted as NFTs to be used as the building blocks for the future.
